About AMEDD - AMEDD Innovations Since Desert Storm

In 1994, the U.S. Army Environmental Hygiene Agency, which supported the Army's preventive medicine programs, was redesignated the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine. With the new name came additional responsibility for worldwide technical support in the fields of environmental and occupational health, health promotion and wellness, epidemiology and disease surveillance, toxicology, and related laboratory sciences. In addition to the Army, CHPPM provides selected services to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

CHPPM is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Its employees include chemists, physicists, engineers, doctors, optometrists, epidemiologists, audiologists, nurses, industrial hygienists, toxicologists, entomologists and other scientific and administrative personnel.
